29 January 2003* 29 January 2003 The "Training Seminar on Children Working on Streets" was held at Dedeman Hotel, Diyarbakir "Children on streets" is an important social problem in the provinces of the region calling for urgent solutions The purpose of the training seminar was to discuss the issue with its various aspects and develop specific policies for the solution of the problem National and international experts participating to the seminar made presentations covering relevant headings including "Child Rights", "Conflicts Between Rural Migrant *****s and their Children", "Community Support Systems" and "Working with Families" After these presentations, participants continued with group work, which was followed by provincial presentations Participants to the seminar chaired by Cemil SERHATLI, Governor of Diyarbakir included the following: GAP Deputy President Serafettin HAMIDI; Dr Bülent ILIK, GAP Coordinator for Human and Social Development; GAP Advisor Prof Sema KUT; GAP Education-Training Coordinator Melek ÇAKMAK; Aygül FAZLIOGLU and Ilknur BÜKÜLMEZ from the GAP Coordination for Social Projects; 40 participants from the provinces of the region; Mehmet AÇIKGÖZ, GAP Deputy Regional Director and experts Selin KAPLAN, Gülsah DALGIÇ and Özsel BELELI from the Directorate; Prof Yossi TAMIR as trainer from the US based Joint Distribution Committee, which also sponsored the event; Dr Shoshana GREENWALD, Zippi LEFFLER, Reuven DARBASSI and Edna SALOMON as international experts; Gülay ASLANTEPE and Nejat KOCABAY from ILO; Prof Sevil ATAUZ from the Social Services College of Hacettepe University and Siyma BARKIN from UNICEF |
