Hayatı :

Robert Schumann 8 Haziran 1810 tarihinde Almanya’nın, Zwickau kentinde dünyaya geldi Almanya’daki Romantik hareketin öncülerinden birisi olan besteci ve müzik eleştirmendir Robert Schumann, kitap satıcısı Friedrich August Schumann ile Johanna Christiane Schnabel’in beş çocuğundan en gencidir Gençliğinde babasının kitaplığındaki Lord Byron ve Sir Walter Scott’un romantik hikâyelerini okuyan Robert, şair olmayı hayal ederdi



Müziğe de yeteneği olan Robert, küçük yaşta piyano dersleri aldı ve babasının teşviğiyle küçük parçalar bestelemeye başladı Edebiyat ve müzik, Schumann için sanatsal yaratıcılığının ortaya koymada kullanabileceği iki ayrı araçtı ve ileriki yıllarda piyano çalma olanağını yitirince yeteneklerinin çift yönlü gelişmesinin büyük faydasını gördü 29 Temmuz 1856 yılında Almanya’nın Bonn şehrinde hayatını kaybetmiştir
