A consultative meeting was held in Cairo, Egypt under the joint organization of the ICARDA (International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas) and World Bank

The meeting focused on practices and suggestions relating to the new World Bank strategies on rural development in the context of the region Central and Western Asia and North Africa (CWANA)

Handan Giray, expert in the International Relations Unit of the GAP Administration was present at the meeting to inform participants about the rural development experience of the Administration, share information and experience with others and investigate the possibilities of further relationship and partnership with organizations active in the field of agricultural and rural development

Participants to the meeting included 16 CGIAR organizations as well representatives from the related departments of governments, the private sector, civil society organizations, policy making bodies and international development organizations (World Bank, IFAD, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Asian Development Bank, UNDP and FAO)
