History & Objectives

Brief History

Ege University International Computer Institute (ICI) is established in late 1994

Institute's primary mission is to run graduate programs in information technologies

Working directly under the Chancellor's office, the institute's managerial and academic activities are carried out by the Institute director and the Institute Governors Board

Currently there are 7 faculty members, 11 graduate research assistants and more than 70 graduate students

The institute is located in a new building consisting of three wings that also house software development groups and network management group of Ege University

ICI building is equipped with excellent networking infrastructure and computer labs that allow staff and students carry out state of the art research

Primary Objectives

ICI has been founded for providing graduate education and supporting research activities in the area of information technologies

One important goal is to closely follow the latest developments in information technology and work for the transfer and widespread use of the related developments in Turkey

Both application-oriented and theoretical studies are targeted

Cooperation with industry is given high priority and joint projects are encouraged

Establishment of close relations and undertaking joint projects with international establishments are also targeted

Promoting the widespread use of international computer networks is among the main objectives of the institute

Academic activities are carried out at the graduate level

In addition, technical courses, seminars and summer schools in the area of information technologies are offered

The institute cooperates with the Computer Engineering Department of the University and joint projects are being developed
